Who can book a room with Fuse?

Fuse is an all-inclusive coliving and student accommodation community for people temporarily relocating to Riga or Budapest for a defined purpose, studies, internships, early-career roles, volunteering, fellowships, or exchange programs including Erasmus. To book a private room or shared apartment with us, you need to: Be under 35 years of age at the time of booking Be at least 18 at your contract start date Have a valid reason for your stay (see below) Be able to provide supporting documentation Commit to a minimum stay of 5 months

What counts as a valid reason for staying?

We accept a broad range of purposes, including but not limited to: University or college studies at institutions such as ELTE, Corvinus, Semmelweis, BME, Óbuda University (Budapest) or the University of Latvia, Riga Technical University (RTU), Stradiņš University (Riga) Internships and traineeships Early-career roles (first jobs, trainee programs, fixed-term contracts) Volunteering with recognized non-profit or non-governmental organizations Erasmus, fellowships, or similar international exchange programs If your situation doesn't fit neatly into one of these categories but is in a similar spirit, reach out to support@fusestays.com and we'll take a look.

What documents do I need to provide?

Two documents: A valid government-issued ID (passport or national ID card) A document evidencing the purpose of your stay, issued by a recognized institution, for example, a university enrollment letter, internship agreement, employment contract or offer letter, volunteering agreement, or exchange program confirmation You'll upload these within 48 hours of paying your membership fee.

I turn 35 during my stay, is that a problem?

No. The age requirement applies only at the time of booking. If you're under 35 when you book, you can complete your contract even if you turn 35 during your tenancy.

How do I book a room?

Accepted Answer

Our booking process is fully online at fusestays.com, no waiting on email exchanges, no queueing: Search and choose a unit. Use the filters to find a private room, shared apartment, or studio in Riga or Budapest that matches your budget and preferences. Enter your details. Provide your name, phone number, email, desired contract start date (the 1st or 15th of a month), and contract length (5, 6, 10 or 12 months). You'll see the exact monthly rent for your chosen combination. Verify your email. We'll send a verification link; follow it to set up your account. Pay the membership fee. Pay the €295 Fuse membership fee via the payment link we send. Your unit is reserved only once this fee is received. Upload your documents. Within 48 hours, upload your ID and your proof-of-purpose document. We review. Our team checks your documents, usually within a couple of working days. Sign the tenancy agreement. Once approved, you'll receive the tenancy agreement for digital signature. Pay rent and deposit. Pay the first month's rent and security deposit before your contract start date. Your room is now confirmed and reserved for the full duration.

What is the €295 membership fee?

Paid once to Fuse when your room is confirmed, it gives you: A place in the Fuse student community Resident events in your city, all year round Your tenant portal: contract, payments and requests in one place A support team you can reach whenever you need it You pay it once and it stays with you. If you move to another Fuse city later, your membership moves with you and you do not pay the fee again. It also covers reviewing your application and your access to the booking platform. The fee is separate from your rent and deposit, which are paid to Fuse in your city, and it is non-refundable.

Why is the membership fee non-refundable?

The fee covers our work reviewing and processing your application, regardless of the outcome. By paying, you confirm that you meet the eligibility criteria and that the documents you'll provide are accurate and authentic. It's refunded in full if: Fuse rejects your application even though you meet all the eligibility criteria The unit becomes unavailable and we can't offer you a comparable alternative We're unable to deliver your booked unit for reasons on our side It's not refunded if you don't upload your documents in time, submit inadequate or falsified documents, don't meet eligibility criteria you could have self-assessed (like age or purpose of stay), or voluntarily withdraw your application.

Are all bills included in the rent?

Yes. Fuse is all-inclusive. Your monthly rent covers utilities and fast Wi-Fi, there are no extra utility bills for the duration of your stay. Beyond the €295 membership fee, your rent, and your deposit, there are no additional charges.

When is rent due?

Rent is due monthly. Here's the full payment cycle: 20th of the current month : you receive your payment request with the exact amount and bank details for the following month's rent 27th of the current month : payment deadline. Your rent for the next month needs to have arrived by this date 1st of the following month : if your payment hasn't been received, a daily late payment fee applies for each day the rent remains unpaid

What is the deposit, and when do I pay it?

The security deposit is paid to the local Fuse entity before your contract start date: Riga: 1.5× the base monthly rent Budapest: 2× the base monthly rent The deposit is held in a separate account and returned to you after checkout, minus any deductions (see Move-Out section below).

Does the monthly rent change based on contract length?

Yes. Shorter contracts have slightly higher monthly rent; the 12-month contract carries the base (lowest) rate. The exact price for each contract length is shown during booking.

What you get back depends on when you cancel, before or after paying the membership fee, before or after signing the tenancy agreement, before or after the contract start date. What's provided in my room?

All Fuse rooms are fully furnished, ideal for students and young professionals who don't want the hassle of buying and moving furniture. At move-in you'll find: Bed, mattress, bed linen, pillow, and duvet Desk and chair Wardrobe or storage Shared access to a fully equipped kitchen and common areas in your coliving property

Do I need to bring anything?

For your stay, we recommend bringing: Additional personal bedding if you prefer your own (an extra linen set, your own pillow, blankets) Towels Personal kitchenware if you'd like your own beyond what the shared kitchen provides Any personal items that make a place feel like home For move-in day specifically, please have ready: Your ID or passport A digital copy of your signed tenancy agreement Confirmation of your rent and deposit payment (we may ask to see it)

What's the check-out process?

You need to check out by 10:00 AM on the last day of your contract. If you're leaving earlier, please let us know in advance by emailing support@fusestays.com . Before you leave, please make sure that: You've collected all your personal belongings All waste has been disposed of properly Your room is in the same condition as at check-in All furnishings and items provided by Fuse are still present

How do I return the keys?

Leave your keys in the door lock of your room on move-out day. Our local property management team will collect them during the final inspection.

When do I get my deposit back?

After checkout, our team does a final inspection of your room and any common areas you used. You'll receive an email with the outcome and, where applicable, a breakdown of any deductions. Your deposit refund (minus any deductions) is transferred within 30 days of checkout.

What can be deducted from my deposit?

Deductions only apply for: Excessive cleaning : if your room or common areas are left in a condition requiring cleaning beyond a standard turnover clean Repairs and fixtures : e.g., repainting, door handles, appliance repairs caused by misuse Inventory replacement : items missing or damaged beyond repair Rent arrears : any unpaid rent or other amounts due Normal wear and tear isn't charged. Our goal isn't to charge extra fees. We just want the room ready for the next tenant.

What are the key house rules in Fuse coliving properties?

Accepted Answer

No smoking anywhere in Fuse properties, including inside rooms and indoor common areas. Breach incurs a penalty specified in your tenancy agreement. No pets. No parties or excessive noise. Parties aren't permitted without the agreement of all tenants in the property. Please respect everyone's privacy and rest. Visitors can stay for up to 5 consecutive days. No subletting. You may not sublet, assign, or list your room on any short-term rental platform such as Airbnb or Booking.com. Respectful use. Use your room and common areas responsibly and avoid causing damage, disturbance, or risk to others. Full house rules are in your tenancy agreement.

Who is responsible for cleaning in a shared apartment?

Your own room: you clean it. Common areas (kitchen, living room, bathrooms in shared flats): shared responsibility of all tenants using them. Keep them clean and take care of your share of day-to-day upkeep.

Who is responsible for damage?

Accepted Answer

Damage caused by you or your visitors is your responsibility. Damage from ordinary wear and tear or end-of-life items is Fuse's responsibility. If damage occurs in a common area and no one claims responsibility, costs may be shared among the tenants using that area.

Can I have guests stay overnight?

Yes, for up to 5 consecutive days. Longer stays need prior permission; contact support@fusestays.com .

What if there's a maintenance issue in my room or the property?

Email support@fusestays.com . We'll acknowledge your report and respond within 48 hours, and our local property management team will sort it out as quickly as possible. If the issue isn't caused by you, Fuse covers the cost.

Is internet included?

Yes. Fast Wi-Fi is included in all Fuse coliving properties in both Riga and Budapest.

Are utilities included?

Yes, fully. Your monthly rent includes all utilities (water, electricity, heating, internet). There are no extra bills for the duration of your stay. That's what "all bills included" means at Fuse.

What if the internet or utilities stop working?

Can I extend my stay?

Yes. Let us know at least 30 days before the end of your contract and tell us how long you'd like to extend for. Email support@fusestays.com with your request.

Can I leave early?

Accepted Answer

Tenancy agreements are for a fixed term, and rent remains payable until the end of your contract even if you move out earlier. Early termination isn't generally possible. Exceptions may be made in rare circumstances with proper documentation, for example, documented medical grounds. Can Fuse end my tenancy early?

Yes, in serious circumstances, for example, unpaid rent where you don't respond to reminders, serious or repeated breaches of the house rules, illegal activity at the property, or if you provided false information or falsified documents during your application. We'll always issue a written warning and then a formal notice before termination, following applicable local law.

Does Fuse insure my belongings?

Accepted Answer

No. Fuse and the local entities aren't responsible for your personal belongings. We strongly recommend getting your own contents insurance to cover your personal items during your stay.

What's the difference between coliving and a student dorm?

Accepted Answer

Coliving with Fuse is a more private, flexible alternative to a traditional student dormitory. You rent a private room (or sometimes a studio) in a fully furnished apartment, with all bills included, flexible contract lengths from 5 months, and a community of other tenants, without the restrictions, curfews, or uniform rooms that often come with dorm accommodation.
